2418 Sherwood Cadets Earn Gold

Between the 28th August and 6th September 2009, Flight Sergeant (FSgt) Kahla (17) and Corporal (Cpl) Swift (16) of 2418 (Sherwood) Squadron completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions in Bavaria, Germany. Both Cadets were joined by 16 other Cadets from all 3 Cadet Services, the Air Training Corps (ATC), the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and the Combined Cadet Force (CCF).

The trip lasted for a total of 8 days but the exhibition itself last for a total of 7 days, a 4 day exhibition and a 3 night exhibition. The little spare time they had was put to good use having to create route plans and participate in an acclimatisation walk. But there was time to relax which was spent shopping in a nearby town and at a swimming pool.

Cpl Swift said "The exhibition provided us with a real challenging walk which saw us cross the border from Germany into Austria."

On his return, FSgt Kahla commented, "The exhibition allowed us to get an insight into the Bavarian culture and the lifestyle they lead. The exhibition itself was very challenging and it was a gruelling 7 days but it was well worth the effort and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it."
