Battle of Britain

On Sunday 18th September 2011 12 cadets from 2418 (Sherwood) squadron and many other cadets from other squadrons in Nottingham met up at St Mary’s church in remembrance of the Battle of Britain.

All cadets and diffusers went in the church for an approx of an hour long church service during the church service everyone sung and prayed. There were also many tributes for the great people who died during the Battle of Britain.

After the service each cadet was given a flight number e.g. “number 2 flight” and formed up in flights after waiting for police escorts we all marched off through the city centre. Everyone looked so smart marching in time with the band. We all arrived in the market square facing the council house. We were ordered to “open order march!” The Mayor of Nottingham talked to most cadets about the life as a cadet.

At the end of the parade we were given the order “officer on parade dismiss!” We all right included saluted and marched off. Overall most of us enjoyed the day, although it got very boring at times! But that won’t be stopping us from 2418 supporting the parade for remembrance of Battle of Britain.
