Inter wing football tournament

After two trials over the period of two weeks, CDT Connor Kearsley and CDT Matthew Fisher got selected to represent South and East Midlands Wing in the Inter-Wing football tournament, consisting of all the 6 wings in our region.

CDT Kearsley (the wing’s right back) said,

It felt good to represent the wing for sport, because I’m very passionate about it.

CDT Fisher (who was the wing’s goalkeeper) said,

Goal keeping is a subject I am very passionate about, and was delighted to bring that into cadets by being the wings goalkeeper for the tournament.

The tournament was held at RAF Cranwell on the 25th of September 2011. In this tournament they participated in 5 games which lasted 5 minutes long against all the other wings. In the first game they held out their opponents to a 1-0 victory. This moral boost helped them in the remaining 4 games which all turned out to be 0-0 draws during duration of the tournament, we did not concede a goal at any point, and achieved clean sheets throughout.

The highlight of the day was withholding a 0-0 draw with Suffolk and Norfolk region who went on to achieve 1st place in the tournament. After the tournament, they announced who would be going for trials got the region football team as we waited nervously, both our names were read off the sheet, which was a huge delight.
