2418 Celebrate yet another golden year!
Recently 2418 sat down for their annual presentation evening and meal. Everyone was looking forward to a brilliant night with plenty of awards to be given out to recognise the hard work and dedication all the cadets had put in over the last year.
Everyone tucked in to a lovely three course meal held at the Ramsdale Golf Course in Calverton and after focussed their attention on the cadets recognition of achievements. Flt Lt Bates began the presentations by looking back on the amazing year that 2418 have had so far with results that included coming 7th in Banner Drill, 9th at Wing Field Day and also 4th at Swimming, all alongside being awarded the Auster trophy for 2013. All confirming our own label as Nottingham's Number 1 squadron and officially within the wing.
Many other accolades followed throughout the evening such as, Sports person of the year going to CDT Scott, Outdoor person of the year being given to FS Green, 2418's Best Shot going to CPL Thurgood, Community Shield going to CDT Brooksby and the Andrew Maycock Shield going to CDT Domelo and the NCO Recognition award being given to both FS Green and FS Foster. Along side these and many other accolades that the cadets were presented with to show appreciation for their commitment and achievement throughout the 2014 year, some cadets had proven themselves massively and were given promotion. CDT's Tinkler, Oldknow and Thurgood were all promoted to Corporal and Corporal's Sanders, Holmes and Russell were promoted to Sergeant. A mention was also given to the Lord Lieutenants Cadet, CWO Grant, for her nomination for the Dacre Brooch for South and East Midlands Wing.
All in all, everyone had a very enjoyable night with CPL Tinkler adding, "it was an amazing night followed by an abundance of presentations that everyone worked hard for, it was a great way to be rewarded for all our hard work and effort for the year".
