Recently, cadets from 2418 took part in the St John's ambulance youth first aid course. The course aims to give candidates a good knowledge of a range of first aid scenarios that they could be faced with.

Over the weekend, presentations and practical exercises covered topics such as bleeds, breaks and how to correctly administer CPR, building on the skills taught at the blue level of the training syllabus.

After a hard weekend of learning, the cadets were ready for their assessments, facing three scenarios: a conscious casualty, and unconscious casualty and CPR. All of the cadets performed well and are now awaiting their bronze badges! Cadet Burns-Foster said "It was a hard weekend but I learnt lots of new skills that could one day be crucial."
